Grammarly, LanguageTool, DeepL Write, Wordtune and QuillBot work on text you already have. They sit inside browsers and word processors, correct mistakes, and offer alternative phrasings. Most have a usable free tier and charge a flat monthly fee, which makes them the cheapest category to trial properly.
Marketing copy platforms
Jasper, Writer and Rytr generate ads, emails, product descriptions and long posts from a brief. The better ones store brand voices and style guides. Pricing is per seat, and the interesting limits are the number of stored voices and who can approve output.
Workspace-embedded assistants
Notion AI writes and edits inside the notes and documents a team already keeps in Notion. There is no separate writing product to buy, and nothing to install. The value depends on how much of your work already lives in that workspace, and falls away outside it.
Fiction and long-form tools
Sudowrite is built around novels and screenplays, with story-aware features such as series continuity and developmental feedback. It meters usage in credits rather than words, which suits long drafting sessions more than short office documents, and it is priced for individual authors.
