Murf: what it is, what it costs, where it breaks
Murf is an AI voice platform made by Murf Inc. that turns written scripts into spoken voiceovers in a browser studio and sells the same speech engines to developers through an API. It also offers voice cloning, a voice changer and video or audio dubbing for companies producing training, marketing and product audio.
What to know first
Murf splits into two products. The studio is for people who paste a script, pick one of 200+ voices and shape delivery with pitch, speed and pause controls, then sync the audio to slides or video. The API sells Falcon, a low-latency model aimed at voice agents, at one cent per minute. Studio plans are billed per user, and the vendor's own pages show different price figures, so check the live checkout before committing.

Who Murf is best for
Corporate trainers and e-learning teams
Murf lists integrations with PowerPoint, Google Slides and Adobe Captivate, so narration can be added to a slide deck or course file without moving audio through a separate editor.
Marketers producing explainers and ads
The studio lets you tune pitch, emphasis and pauses and place audio against video or images on a timeline, which suits short promotional pieces made from a script.
Teams building phone or voice agents
The Falcon API is priced at $0.01 per minute and described with 10,000 concurrent calls and sub-130 ms response, which makes unit cost easy to model for call volume.
Localization teams dubbing video
Murf Dubbing translates video and audio into 20+ languages with its own voices, so one narrated asset can be reissued for other markets from the same account.
Murf plans and pricing
| Plan | Price | What it includes |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 10 minutes of voice generation and 10 minutes of transcription, access to the voice library and shareable previews. The help center states the free trial does not support downloads. |
| Creator | From $19 per month, billed annually | Murf's text-to-speech page lists this as the entry paid plan. The vendor says paid plans add voice cloning, AI translation and higher usage limits. A Murf blog guide lists $29 to $49 per user monthly. |
| Business | From $66 per month, billed annually | Team tier with higher limits and priority support, per the vendor's text-to-speech page. The same Murf blog guide lists $99 to $199 per user per month, so confirm the figure at checkout. |
| Enterprise | Custom pricing | Tailored to high-volume and specialized needs. The ethical AI page says Murf does not use Enterprise customer data to train its AI models. Contact sales for terms. |
| API (Falcon) | $0.01 per minute | Falcon text-to-speech for voice agents with streaming and WebSocket access. The API page lists no separate tiers. A free API key is offered for testing. |
Prices as of October 2026; vendors change plans often, so confirm on the vendor's pricing page.
What Murf does
- Voiceover studio
- The web studio takes a script, assigns voices per block and exposes pitch, speed, pauses and emphasis controls. Audio can be placed against uploaded images, video or music on a timeline, so a narrated clip is produced in one workspace.
- Voice cloning
- Murf's cloning page separates instant clones, built from short samples, from professional clones built from extensive recordings. Murf describes the instant type as quick but low quality, and the page sends buyers to sales for the professional route.
- Dubbing and translation
- Murf Dubbing translates video and audio into 20+ languages. The nav also lists text and audio translation, a voice changer that converts a recording into one of its voices, and transcription limited to 10 minutes on the free plan.
- Falcon and Speech Gen 2 models
- Falcon targets speed for live agents, with 55 ms model latency claimed. Speech Gen 2 offers finer control over 150+ voices in the API. Both are Murf's own models, reached through REST endpoints, SDKs, streaming and WebSockets.
- Add-ons for presentation tools
- Murf ships add-ons and integrations for Canva, Google Slides, PowerPoint and Adobe Captivate, plus a Murf TTS Reader and voices for Windows. They let non-audio people attach narration where their content already lives.
How Murf handles your data
Murf's security page says all customer data is stored and processed in AWS US-East-2 (Ohio), encrypted with AES-256 at rest and TLS 1.2 in transit, with no copies outside that region. It lists SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, ISO 42001, GDPR and CCPA compliance, and follows the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. The terms say Murf uses your information only to provide the services, and the ethical AI page states Enterprise data is not used for model training. Training use on other plans was not confirmed, so ask the vendor.
Where Murf falls short in practice
- Price figures disagree between pages. The text-to-speech page quotes plans from $19 and $66 monthly on annual billing, while a Murf blog guide lists per-user monthly tiers from $29 to $199. The pricing page itself rendered only client side, so check the checkout before you budget.
- No EU hosting. Every stage of storage and audio processing is stated to run in Ohio. European buyers rely on the Data Privacy Framework and contract terms instead of in-region processing, which some procurement policies will not accept.
- Cloning is a sales conversation. The voice cloning page points to Contact Sales rather than a self-serve price, and the terms require explicit written consent from any speaker whose recordings you submit. Plan time for that paperwork before a campaign.
- Murf voices cannot train other models. The terms allow commercial use of Murf voices but forbid using them to train any AI model. Teams that want to build a dataset or a derivative product from generated audio need written permission first.

Murf: common questions
Does the Murf free plan let me download audio?
No. Murf's help center says the free trial does not support downloads. It gives 10 minutes of voice generation and 10 minutes of transcription with access to the voice library, plus preview sharing and embed links, so it works as a test of voices, not as a way to produce a finished file.
Can I use Murf audio commercially?
Yes on paid use. The terms say you can use Murf created voices for commercial purposes, though that is not a right to resell them, and Murf's text-to-speech page repeats full commercial usage rights. The terms also forbid using the voices to train AI models, so a dataset needs written permission.
How much does Murf cost as of October 2026?
The text-to-speech page lists Creator from $19 per month and Business from $66 per month, both billed annually, with Enterprise custom. A Murf blog guide lists higher per-user monthly tiers, and the pricing page could not be read, so treat the lower figures as a floor and confirm at checkout.
Does Murf train its models on my scripts and recordings?
The ethical AI page says Murf does not use Enterprise customer data to train its AI models, and the terms say your information is used only to provide the services. The terms also let Murf use clone training audio to build that voice. Ask the vendor for written terms on your plan.
Is the Murf API separate from the studio?
Yes. The API has its own page, a free key for testing and Falcon priced at $0.01 per minute, aimed at voice agents. Studio plans are per user and meter voiceover hours. Developers should price the API on its own page and not by comparing it with Creator or Business.
